Project Summary
Trove is an investment management platform that allows investors in early stage companies to track the value of their unlisted portfolio, as well as demand accountability from the companies they invest in. Through a real-time investment dashboard, investors have the ability to request information from founders, see their total investment value and performance, and access all necessary company documents and data.
Trove completed the StartxCatalyst through StartxLabs, which allowed them to completely map out the product from start to finish, screen-by-screen, and have a complete, fixed-cost quote for development. They were able to use the prototype created to get commitments from over 150 future customers: validating the concept, and guaranteeing monthly recurring revenue from launch.
I started the StartxCatalyst program with an intention simply to have a design of my product, and to have a quote to build the platform. What it ended up being was far more than this. Even as someone that is a reasonably experienced founder, the guidance, patience and level of detail provided by Erin and StartxLabs enabled me to think more laterally about my product, and totally reshaped the end product. It is by no means a passive process, and I needed to engage and really think about the product and what the market wanted.
The end result is something I am proud of, and have already sought commitments from future clients based off the prototype. I wholeheartedly recommend this process for anyone that has an idea in their head for an app or tech-based business - or even if (like me), you think you know it all already - I implore you to go through this process. You won't regret it.
